Tuesday. Triangle lake to Florence 52 miles. Made it. Mission accomplished. I will collect my thoughts and stats and make a final post in a day or two. Right now I plan on chillin’ and hanging out with caryn.
The water looks nice and cool, congrats on a great ride. Looking forward to hearing all about it in Portland in the upcoming days... maybe I'll have to take you on a bike tour of the city.
Joe; Congratulations, what a fantastic accomplishment. I am married to a cousin of Ralph's and we are enthusiastic bikers (not quite as enthusiastic as his brother Mark) so I have been following your blog and vicariously travelling with you and Ralph. I especially appreciated your brief discussion of the west-vs-east issue. When Ralph first told me he was going from east to west I think I told him he was crazy b/c of the prevailing winds. Your argument of the sun behind you in the morning makes a lot of sense to me and the lack of noticable prevailing winds is not too surprising, especially during the summer. Thanks for clearing this up for me, and my apologies to Ralph and the Adventure Cycling folks for the 'crazy' comment. You are a good writer, I have appreciated your commentary and descriptions (and Caryn's too). Best wishes to you and the rest of your now-famous group, the TransAmer's. Max
Joe, CONGRATULATION !!!!!!! wHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!! We are so proud of you. I love your picture and the look on your face. It has been fun to follow your adventure and I will miss it. Have a good time with Caryn and I am with you on that camping in a tent stuff. Not good. Pat Stiffler
Hey Joe! Great going! Thanks for sharing so much of it. It's been an adventure for all of us, especially for those who inherited the stay close to home genes. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks. Love, Dorrie
Joe, What a great accomplishment! I followed along everyday as you and the others shared your adventure. It's very difficult for me not to be there with you all, but Pam and I celebrate your ride, non-the-less! With Best Wishes, Ollie
