Well, between the prairie dogs and side mirrors, you've had enough hazards jumping out at you. I know what the problem is with the hills--you are heading north. I've only travelled from Yellowstone to Colter Bay. It was mid-September and a very pleasant trip in a Chevy Malibu (actually it was probably a Dodge Neon super-compact)along Lake Jackson. Since we were going south it must have been all downhill. Fortunately, Oregon just has the Cascades and leftover hippies.
