Uneventful day. A gentle 47 miles through landscape similar to yesterday. Much cooler today with rain off and on. Severe thunder storms expected tonight. Scout tom found a motel charging $49 within a mile of the camp ground. We’ll be dry and safe. Cleanest room I’ve ever seen. Wow! Indoors with a bed two nights in a row.

  1. Hmmm. Cleanest room you've ever seen? Wait till you come home, biker dude - that comments gives me lots of room to toss my clothing on the floor and not make the bed!

  8. dear joe, I like uneventful days best of all, albeit 47 miles on a bike in the rain on kentucky backroads with impending electrical storm hardly seems like a putt on the green. several 100 miles ago, i envisioned don quixote on his trusty steed, but after some recent photos and narrative, i've escalated that impression to russell crowe in gladiator. I'd recommend slim jims for the dogs. as for the hills, keep wash ave. circa '58 or '59 in mind and , as cousin kim might suggest, those hills could become handy for that kansas stretch. here's hoping for, but hardly expecting, more "gentle" miles. love, david and ann

  10. Catching up on your trek. Aside from the lack of certain amenities i.e.flushing toilets at all times, etc--sounds fabulous. LOVE the pics--stay safe--DSR

  12. McDade, Just because I'm not inviting you to my parties doesn't mean you have to get nasty and tell Joe about them.
